Lord of the Flies Lesson 3 and HOMEWORK 3

Aim: Why is Piggy continually marginalized?
(Don’t know what marginalized means? Look it up.)

READ middle of page 36 through page 43 (end of chapter 2)
ANSWER the following questions
READ the entire section first.

THIS WILL BE COLLECTED

1- How does the cooperation between Jack and Ralph put Piggy in a low position?
2- Give and example of Jack disrespecting the rules of the island.
3- Describe the relationship between Ralph and Piggy in this section.
4- How does Piggy show his intelligence? Be specific.
5- Why doesn’t anyone listen to Piggy?
6- After the fire, why do Jack and Ralph turn on Piggy? Are they right?
7- Piggy seems to be more organized and has better ideas then the other boys, but Ralph and Jack are looked at like leaders. What personality traits do Ralph and Jack have that makes them seem like better leaders, even if they may not be?
