Re-read page two of the story.

Answer the following questions on a separate sheet.

1- What did the narrator hear in the hallways outside his door?
2- How did the narrator realize that he was not alone?
3- Read the following description of the Cardiff Giant:

The Cardiff Giant, one of the most famous hoaxes in American history, was a 10-foot-tall "petrified man" uncovered on October 16, 1869 by workers digging a well behind the barn of William C. "Stub" Newell in Cardiff, New York. Both it and an unauthorized copy made by PT. Barnum are still on display.

4- Why would you not expect the Cardiff Giant to be haunting a house?
5- How did the narrator react when he discovered who was really haunting him?
6- What happened to all the furniture in the room?
7- Why did the narrator say the Giant should be ashamed?
8- Explan how the Cardiff Giant is the opposite of a traditional ghost.
9- The Cardiff Giant is described as being friendly. Even jf that is true, how would you feel to find a 1O-foot tall stone man in your room, accidentaly destroying all the furniture?
10- At this point in the story, why would you or would you not still title this "A Ghost Story?"
