PART TWO

Aim: What is the setting of Mark Twain's ghost story?

Do Now: Hand in HW GS 1

Re-read page one of the story.

Answer the following questions on a separate sheet.

THIS WILL BE COLLECTED!
1- Why did the room scare the narrator?
2- How did the narrator make the room seem more comfortable and less scary?
3- What strange thing happened to the narrator after he awakened in the night?
4- What did the narrator hear that made him feel like the strange being had ended?
5- When the narrator thought it was al/ a dream, what evidence did he find that changed his mind?
6- How did the narrator feel at the end of part one?
7- Create a better title for this story. What would you call it?

Write a letter to a friend. Pretend that the events in the story happened to you.
Explain to the friend what happened. Tell the friend how you felt about it. Explain
to the friend what you think the explanation might be, and explain what you
intend to do about it in the future. This should be at least a half-page.

Explain what you think the narrator should have done when he felt the blankets
being pulled away. Is there anything the narrator did that you think was silly or
unrealistic? If you were the writer of this story, what changes would you make?
